An exclusive pension and tax event for medical consultants

Tuesday, 15 September 2026

5:00pm - 6:30pm

The recent increase in the Standard Fund Threshold presents new opportunities and important considerations for medical consultants planning for retirement.

Whether retirement is five years away or twenty-five, understanding how these changes may affect your pension benefits, tax position and wider financial plan has never been more important.

Join NFP Ireland Galway for an exclusive event where pension, financial planning and tax specialists will explain what has changed, what remains unchanged and the practical steps consultants should consider.

Why Attend?

Medical consultants often have particularly complex pension arrangements, combining public sector benefits, private practice income and additional retirement planning.

This event has been designed specifically to help you better understand how the recent legislative changes could affect your financial future.

During the session, our specialists will cover:

  • The increase in the Standard Fund Threshold and what it means in practice
  • How pension benefits are valued
  • Why Chargeable Excess Tax remains an important consideration
  • The taxation of retirement lump sums
  • How public sector pensions interact with private pension arrangements
  • Pension funding opportunities before retirement
  • How pension planning and tax planning work together

The session will conclude with a live Q&A, giving you the opportunity to ask practical questions directly to our pension, financial planning and tax specialists.
